From AI Prototype to Production: Building Physical AI Products for the Long Term

2026年9月22日火曜日

Physical AI is moving quickly from demonstrations and prototypes into real products. Robots, medical devices, industrial systems, and other edge AI applications need more than a powerful processor and an impressive AI model. They need a software foundation that can be maintained, secured, and updated throughout the product lifecycle.

That’s where Torizon comes in.

Toradex has joined the NVIDIA Partner Network (NPN) at the Compute competency – Solution Advisor, Partner level. This recognizes Toradex as a partner for deploying and managing products built on NVIDIA Jetson. It takes care of the boring yet essential work of bringing a product to market and maintaining it securely for many years, so teams can focus on their applications and innovation. Torizon supports the NVIDIA Jetson Thor and NVIDIA Jetson Orin product families.

NVIDIA Partner

For manufacturers, the partnership brings together NVIDIA’s edge AI computing platform with Torizon’s production-ready Linux operating system, cybersecurity services, software updates, and fleet management capabilities.

Moving from an AI demo to a product you can maintain

Getting an AI application running on an NVIDIA Jetson platform is the beginning.

Turning that application into a product that can ship at scale, while remaining secure and maintainable for years, introduces a different set of challenges. Operating system maintenance, security vulnerabilities, software updates, device management, compliance requirements, and field support all become part of the product lifecycle.

Torizon takes care of this essential infrastructure so engineering teams can stay focused on their applications and AI innovation.

Torizon is a proven platform, already deployed across hundreds of critical products where reliability and long-term maintainability are essential. With NVIDIA Jetson support, manufacturers can bring that same production-focused approach to edge AI and embedded systems.

A Linux foundation built for the entire product lifecycle

NVIDIA’s continued investment in Linux flexibility, including official Yocto Project support with JetPack 7.2, gives manufacturers more options for building customized Jetson-based products.

Torizon complements this direction with a Yocto-based operating system that works out of the box, without requiring teams to become Yocto experts.

For developers who want a modern application workflow, Torizon also supports Docker containers for developing, deploying, and managing applications. And for teams with deep Yocto expertise, the underlying customization capabilities of the Yocto Project remain available.

Long-term Linux maintenance, expert-reviewed vulnerability assessments, software bills of materials (SBOMs) and vulnerability impact reports (VEX) help manufacturers manage cybersecurity throughout the product lifecycle. These capabilities support product-specific compliance work for the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and applicable FDA and EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) requirements.

This gives manufacturers flexibility in how they build their products while providing a maintained software foundation underneath.

A migration path from x86 to Arm-based Jetson

Torizon also helps manufacturers move from x86 systems to Arm-based NVIDIA Jetson modules while retaining common development environments like Windows-based systems, .NET-based software stacks, AI-assisted porting and a proven partner network further reduce porting costs and risk.

Torizon x86 to Arm

For manufacturers reconsidering memory-intensive x86 designs amid memory supply and cost pressures, this provides additional architectural flexibility and memory optimization support.

See NVIDIA Jetson and Torizon in action

Meet the engineering teams at Embedded World North America (booth 6222), September 22-24, 2026, in Anaheim, and at NVIDIA GTC Berlin, October 20-22, 2026.

The event comes at an important moment for embedded AI, as the industry moves from AI-enabled devices toward increasingly autonomous and agentic systems. This evolution will also be explored by Deepu Talla, Vice President – Robotics and Edge AI at NVIDIA, in his keynote at the event;
The Next Evolution of Embedded: Open Platform for Autonomous, Agentic Systems.

Evaluation resources are available on Torizon’s NVIDIA Jetson support page.

Developers can find supported hardware details at the Toradex Developer Center and the full build, flash, and runtime guide on GitHub.
