Pila Energy is rethinking home battery backup with a distributed system that puts power where homeowners need it most. Instead of relying on one large battery, the Pila Mesh Home Battery lets homeowners place individual units throughout the home and synchronize them through a proprietary mesh network.
In a conversation at CES 2026, Toradex CEO Samuel Imgrueth, Pila Energy Founder & CEO Cole Ashman shared how this approach is making home battery backup simpler and more flexible. The Pila Mesh Home Battery was also recognized as a CES Innovation Award honoree.
Each Pila unit plugs into a standard 120V outlet, making backup power more accessible and flexible. Under the hood, Pila is powered by a Toradex System on Module running Torizon OS and Torizon Cloud, giving Pila a custom carrier board design with full support, OTA updates, and an accelerated time to market.
Don't miss this inside look at how Pila is removing the complexity from home battery backup and how the right hardware and software platform choices helped them get there faster.
