We visited the ADVANTICS premises near CERN to sit down with Miklas (CEO) and Axel (Chief Software Architect) to learn how they're building cutting-edge EV charging technology and, how Torizon fits into their workflow.
Starting in e-mobility, ADVANTICS developed advanced charge controllers that manage the complex communication between electric vehicles and charging stations - negotiating power levels, current, and session parameters.
Today, their technology spans from 11 kW chargers to megawatt-class systems up to 6 MW, powering everything from personal vehicles to heavy-duty electric transport.
In this video, Axel breaks down how ADVANTICS uses Torizon as the Linux foundation for their charge controllers: from easily integrating custom packages, to leveraging built-in Docker/container support, to meeting the growing cybersecurity regulatory requirements in Europe (such as the EU CRA) and the US.
Instead of spending time building and maintaining security tooling, ADVANTICS relies on Torizon to handle integration and configuration within the Yocto build system - freeing their team to focus on what they do best: innovating in e-mobility.
