Next-Gen Object Detection with NXP, Au Zone, Torizon

May 23, 2025 | English

In this video, Bernard from NXP Semiconductors presents a cutting-edge object detection demo from Embedded World. The system combines a radar sensor with a camera to dramatically improve the accuracy of identifying people and objects - even under difficult conditions like rain, obstructions, or low visibility.

Running on a Toradex Verdin iMX8M Plus System on Module with Torizon OS, the setup uses AI software to intelligently fuse data from both the radar and optical sensors. This fusion ensures consistent and reliable detection performance, even if one sensor is blocked or impaired.

The radar hardware is developed by Au-Zone, a Canadian company - and Toradex Partner - that offers both partnership opportunities and direct product access. This demo showcases the future of sensor fusion for advanced automotive, industrial, and smart safety applications.
